Meet Yanover Blanco STORIES & INSIGHTS Meet Yanover Blanco STORIES & INSIGHTS16 HOURS AGO Share This Article Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yanover Blanco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below. Yanover, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success? In the beginning to be successful in business it will take one of two things. A lot of money or a lot of time, maybe both. You have to be willing to put the work in on the front end to be able to reap the rewards in the long term. The successful entrepreneurs that you see living comfortably and not working hard are the ones that are reaping the benefits of their hard work. You are seeing them on the tail end. It’s important to remember that in the beginning you will have to work really hard to build the client base, the systems and have the know-how of running a business. Be prepared for the ups and downs and the hardship. When times are good make sure you are learning and growing. At the end of the day to be successful you need to have perseverance! Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.I got into the construction industry during summers in my high school years. In my family and culture work ethic is extremely important and my father would “make” me work in construction during my summer breaks. From a very young age I wanted to be in business and you do what you know so when it came time to start a business I started in construction, not knowing how long I would stay in the field. Here I am 20 years later and I am on my second business. Part of my personality is that I need to grow, I need new goals and challenges or I feel dissatisfied. For that reason I have kept learning new things and working on different and more complex projects until I found that I had the experience and the education to get my license as first a Residential Contractor and later as a General Contractor (unlimited). I am very proud of my journey because I can say that I have a wide breadth of knowledge and experience from working with many different trades and I find that that experience has paid off in the expertise that I bring to clients. With my Company, Yanover Construction, clients can expect to have knowledgeable personnel working on their project and striving for excellence in a way that you just don’t see anymore. We are constantly streamlining our services and making our processes more and more efficient which translates to a better experience for our clients. Our work culture is one where we think about the long-term. We don’t want a client for one project we want a client for a lifetime, one that will tell their network about us. Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?I sold out of my last business where my father and I were partners. The big lesson that I learned was that you have to plan on selling your business even if you don’t see that ever being the plan. You have to plan for the unexpected. I did not have a written agreement that detailed how the business would be valued and what the process of selling would be. I ended up at an incredible disadvantage, negotiating against my own Father to make sure that I was not taken advantage of. You may think that a friend or family member will have your interests in mind but when money is involved people see things from a perspective that benefits them. When you are doing business with friends or family you might not expect things to go sideways but you have to plan for it. Having an agreement in place to resolve conflicts or to part ways in the event that it happens will help you find, either a solution and an incentive to stay or to find the best way out that is agreeable to all parties. That is a lesson I had to learn the hard way. Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation? In everything you do, remember that your reputation is always at stake. I always strive to deal honestly with my clients and keep my promises. At Yanover Construction we promise quality and we know that we have to deliver. We communicate well and we make sure that our personnel have all of the tools they need to deliver a great finished product. This is the foundation of building a reputation but in today’s online world you have to ask your clients for reviews or for them to serve as a reference. From the very start we implemented a strategy for requesting reviews from clients consistently and together with our excellent service that has ensured that we have a strong online reputation. With the same system we have kept in touch with our clients to make sure that if someone in their network needs our service, they will remember to pass our name along. This is one of our best investments. Contact Info:

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanover Blanco and we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Yanover, what role has risk played in your life or career? Risk taking has been a requirement in my life and career of being a business owner and entrepreneur. There is risk in everything that you do and because there is risk there is a reward. Risk is part of what life is made of. The excitement for doing things would not be there if it were not for risk. The gratification of success would not be there if there wasn’t some chance that things would not work out. The feeling of accomplishment would not be as great if there was no risk. I embrace risk and accept the challenge because I know that the payoff will make it all worthwhile and if I fail it will make me stronger for the next round. Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more? What sets me apart is my perseverance and persistence. If I make a mistake or fail, I learn from it and continue moving forward. I am proud to say that I have learned that the only road to success is to prepare and plan, persist and persevere even when times are difficult. There will always be difficulties and the ones that press forward will be the ones that succeed. Getting to where I am today has definitely not been easy, I have been able to overcome obstacles and challenges by not allowing my failures to defeat me but by learning from them. A lesson that I have learned along the way is that you can’t rest on your laurels. You will have peaks and troughs in your journey and the only way to keep moving onward and upward its to maintain momentum. I want the world to know that I strive to do the best I can everyday and smile in the face of adversity because I know that success is always around the corner. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to? If someone was visiting here in Atlanta I would take them to see all of the historical sites and landmarks. Places like Stone Mountain, Oakland Cemetery and Centennial park. Places with history and significance are the ones that you will remember the most and I want anyone visiting to create memories. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? I recognize that I would not be where I am if it were not for so many people that laid the foundation for me to be able to accomplish what I have. My parents efforts in raising me with values and character made a huge difference in my life. They immigrated to this country like so many others to make a better life for their children and without them I would not have the opportunities that I have today. I am grateful to so many teachers and professors that took the time to encourage me and who gave their heart and soul to making sure that I understood and absorbed the knowledge that they had to offer. I recognize that for anyone to succeed it takes the help of those around us and I am grateful for the encouragement and also for the ones that did not encourage me but with their discouragement motivated me even more to succeed. Website: www.yanoverblanco.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yanover_blanco/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yanover-blanco-52893039/ This was a remarkable experience with an amazing Cohort. The course work was beneficial and challenging but the most significant benefit was getting to know the fellow participants. It was truly inspiring to get to know so many people with similar backgrounds that are doing such amazing things with their lives. We learned the value of serving our community in registering voters and engaging with our community through the different projects that we worked through. Working together as a group towards these remarkable goals was a powerful learning experience that I will always carry with me.

Hispanic Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs Born in Houston Texas, Yanover Blanco currently owns a construction company and is a licensed commercial general contractor. Previously, Yanover owned another construction company which he sold ownership of and started a new one. Soon after, he was able to use the lessons he learned and apply them to his new company. "It's not about getting stuck in the day-by-day grind...if you're stuck you will not be able to grow," says Yanover, "It's important to set time aside and allow others to step in and take other responsibilities so you can do the planning. Don't take on everything just because you can." For Yanover, it's more about looking at things in a bigger picture. "Don't get caught up in the present. Think about what will be of you in 10 years. Be resilient because things don't happen overnight." |
